Dr. Mawuli Coffie

I came to know Dr. Doris Dartey through Ambassador Dr. Kodzo Alabo and Rev. Dr. James Obeng. She was invited to join on the Board of Trustees of SALT Institute, a Christian research and tr

aining institute in Transformational Leadership and International Relations and Diplomacy. On the Board, she served as the main anchor for the preparedness of the institute to obtain institutional accreditation from the National Accreditation Board. She was very meticulous, gentle and yet compelling in her recommendations for improvement. She provided guidance in a way that seems as if she has every foreseeable situation well thought through ahead of time. No doubt the institute received accreditation within a record time. She will be remembered for her deep sense of commitment to excellence, social inclusiveness and dedication to purpose. May she rest in perfect peace.

You were such a great friend to me. A mother and a confidant. I cant believe that you have gone to your maker. The laughter we shared, the warm hugs after being away from each other and the

calls to say I miss you. You were so dear to me. The first time I met you we both connected so strongly. Since then you have remained a friend, a mentor, mother , my confidant and the only go to person in difficult times. we shared many solemn moments especially when you were on admission at the 37 military hospital. We laughed over the crab incident. We had bought them from Ada and upon arrival in Accra , all the crabs escaped at the 37 bus stop. What a hilarious moment it was. I recalled that same week you wrote about the crab in you column. Oh Auntie Doris, I will miss your ever cheerful and positive smile and attitude to life. I will miss your wise counsel. I will sourly miss you. you will forever remain in my heart. 2 Timothy 4:7-8"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that dayโ€”and not only to me, but to all who crave His

Twenty years ago we met at Columbus Ohio , after we were introduced we found out we were Sisters in-law. I was married to one of your favorite cousins and we have been together since, unti

l the Lord took you away. Along the line we dropped the in-law and became sisters, something we laughed about anytime it came up. Your passion for writing was marvelous. You were a strong woman. You were so good at setting goals and working to achieve them. โ€˜ My Little Woman in high heel shoesโ€™ I miss you so much. We talked about anything under this sun, our children, jobs, family, relationships, investments, education, our achievements and challenges. We made time for each other in good times and in bad times. Even when you were fighting for your life at Korle Bu you were still demanding my CV which you felt had to be reorganized for a post retirement job for me. What a Sister to have!! You were the big sister I never had, my best friend, my confidant and my mentor. Sister Doris thank you for being such a true friend. I am so glad our paths crossed and it was beautiful. Big Sis. Take a Peaceful Rest in the Lord.

It was an auspicious August and a dreamy one at Dodowa, having been asked to attend Media training workshop by the Coalition of NGOs in Water & Sanitation (CONIWAS), in 2008. Despite it be

ing my first workshop as an intern at Public Agenda Newspaper, least did I anticipate meeting you and your friend Dr. Anthony Bonna Koomson as our facilitators. And ever since, ours has been that of a mother and son. I can not forget the countless times you have inspired me. I can not forget the concerned watch woman that you were. I admire your courage, resilience and persistence to fight on in life especially through these six years Thank you for sharing your life with me and many others. Thank you for consistently urging me on to excel. Your kind is rare and I am forever grateful for teaching a father and a son in different seasons. You will forever remain in our hearts. May eternal light shine on your path and may your soul's transition be ever peaceful Dr. Yaa Dartey. Adieu Mama. Your Son, Kwesi Yirenkyi

FROM SERVING ON GJA AWARDS COMMITTEES TO THE BOARD OF GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS GROUP LIMITED, WE HAD VERY GOOD AND CONFIDENTIAL FRIENDSHIP WITH GLINTS OF MISCHIEF IN OUR EYES IN THE THINGS THA

T WE DID AS WE HAPPILY OILED THE GOSSIPS ABOUT US. WITH AUDACITY I NAMED YOU OBAA YAA BECAUSE WE WERE THE BEST BOSOM BUDDIES. ALSO, I CALLED YOU MY SWEET SOULFUL SMILER BECAUSE NO ONE IN THE UNIVERSE HAD SUCH AN INFECTIOUS SMILE. EVEN IN YOUR STARKEST MOMENTS, WHEN YOU COULD HAVE DESPAIRED, YOU ALWAYS WORE YOUR CHARMING AND DISARMING SMILE. YOU WERE AN INTELLECTUAL WITHOUT AIRS AND YOU WERE HONEST, DISCIPLINED AND A LADY WITH IMPECCABLE INTEGRITY. I AM NUMBED AND IN PAIN. I BID YOU FAREWELL MY ONE AND THE ONLY OBAA YAA. OBAA YAA, SLEEP IN PEACE AND SLEEP SOUNDLY IN THE "CRIB" OF YOUR MAKER. I SURELY WILL COME LOOKING FOR YOU IN THE YONDER WHEN MY TIME IS UP BECAUSE YOU WERE SO HUMANE. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU FONDLY, MY SWEET SOULFUL SMILER!

Ma Doris. One of a kind. A superstar among superstars. A Guardian Angel, able to change lives and make us forever humbled by her kindness, wisdom, strength, and fortitude. Always seeing th

e best in us - her guidance and unconditional support changed the course of my life 23 years ago. She'll be forever loved, adored and celebrated, and never forgotten. Her legacy will live on through all the positive impact she has made in the world and in our individual lives. Gone too soon, but watching over her loving family from high above where she rightfully belongs - among the brightest stars and the Guardian Angels.
